The highly anticipated 3rd edition of the AMA U-18 Star Youth Football Championship 2026, has officially kicked off in grand style on Saturday, at Elepe Secondary School in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Constituency II, with passion, excitement, raw talent on display, and community spirit lighting up the atmosphere.

The Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, performed the ceremonial kick-off alongside the initiator/sponsor of the tournament, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), signaling the official commencement of what promises to be one of the biggest grassroots football spectacles in Ikorodu Division.

From the Elepe centre to Igbogbo and Imota, young football stars announced themselves with electrifying performances, dramatic victories, disciplined defending, and moments of brilliance that left fans roaring with excitement. The opening day delivered goals, passion, and unforgettable football drama across all centres.

Speaking after the opening match, the sponsor, AMA, said that the championship has, once again, proven to be more than just a football competition and emphasised that, “It is a platform of hope, youth discovery, community unity, leadership, and future greatness”.
